Re-submitted to the News: RTL Warns Colo GOP

Re-submitted to the Rocky Mountain News, Nov. 5, 2008:

Politically speaking, our state's Personhood Amendment 48 was trounced, but 550,000 Coloradans voted 'Yes' giving us a firm baseline from which to fight for the innocent. But now that Colorado has also rejected the Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bob Schaffer, I would like to re-submit (as reported on by the Denver Post, LifeNews and appearing on the Rocky Mountain News site) Colorado Right To Life's June press release as a guest editorial:

Right To Life Warns Colorado Republican Chairman

by Leslie Hanks
CRTL V.P.
June 16, 2008

Colorado Right To Life is warning Dick Wadhams, the state Republican Party chairman, that by shunning their pro-life conservative base they're headed for another election defeat in November, three election-cycle catastrophes for the Colorado GOP, and two U.S. Senate losses for Wadhams.

Wadhams banned the nation's oldest Right To Life organization from their state convention while he welcomed a pro-abortion group. The state's top Republican is out of touch with his own party's base, where 4 out of 5 Republicans at the convention voted to defend life beginning at fertilization.

The thousands of convention delegates passed all forty resolutions offered, except for the only one that failed, the pro-abortion Resolution #21. Convention rules require literature to be approved by the party chairman. Wadhams allowed the misnamed Republican Majority for Choice to distribute flyers quoting him about the Personhood Amendment 48 sponsors as "on the fringe of the pro-life movement, and they do not represent by any stretch of the imagination the hundreds of thousands of pro-life Coloradans."

130,000 pro-lifers signed the Personhood petition. Delegates overwhelmingly passed all uncompromising pro-life resolutions including the 78% vote affirming that "life begins at conception." 20-year-old Personhood Amendment sponsor Kristi Burton was elected among the top ten most popular of the 46 national delegates.

Personhood Amendment on 2008 Ballot!

Colorado's Secretary of State Mike Coffman certified that the Personhood Amendment will be on the November ballot! Now through the campaign we can teach the public and our politicians of government's obligation to uphold God's enduring command, Do not murder!

CRTL Thanks the Knights of Columbus

Colorado RTL thanks the Knights of Columbus council in Littleton Colorado for their encouraging letter and financial support to help CRTL promote personhood, as they wrote, "that society be mobilized to force our political system to protect the right to life of the unborn and elderly." Amen to Tony Schaffhauseer and everyone at the Archbishop James V. Casey Council!

131,245 Personhood Signatures!

Historic Date May 13, 2008

DENVER, Colorado - Kristi Burton of Colorado for Equal Rights, along with a hundred of their 1,100 volunteers, delivered dozens of boxes containing 131,245 personhood signatures to the Colorado Secretary of State! That's 55,000 more than required by law to get the Personhood amendment on the November ballot!

"This is historic," said Colorado Right To Life president Joe Riccobono. "For the first time in any state, in forty years, pro-lifers are forcing a statewide opportunity to declare the personhood, and therefore, the right to life, of unborn children." A dozen reporters attending including from Denver's TV stations 4, 7, 9 and 31, and print journalists from the Colorado Statesman, Associated Press, Denver Post, and the Rocky Mountain News.

Our Gazette Letter on Regulating Abortion

Colorado RTL's letter to the editor in the Colorado Springs Gazette newspaper (Focus on the Family's hometown paper)...
Colorado Right to Life opposes every law that regulates the killing of unborn children:
because regardless of the intention, such laws violate God's enduring command, "Do not murder,"
because they merely prune the abortion weed and strengthen its root,
because such laws make abortion seem more palatable to the public and to politicians,
because our conservative judges who uphold such laws become increasingly hostile to the right to life of the unborn, and
because if Roe v. Wade is overturned, such laws will keep abortion legal in Colorado
because they end with the meaning, "and then you can kill the baby."

Weitz Watch: Will Firm Get Hit with Permanent Collaborator Status?

For Immediate Release (January 21, 2008):

Colorado RTL Watching Weitz Designation
Billion-dollar Firm May Get Hit with Permanent Collaborator Status

Colorado Right To Life is watching to see if the Weitz construction firm will be designated with Permanent Collaborator Status. A new anti-abortion group, called the Collaborators Project, has given The Weitz Company, a billion-dollar construction firm, a deadline of January 31, 2008, to stop constructing a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Denver. "If Weitz does not cease from constructing this abortion facility by January 31st," said the Collaborators Project founder Will Duffy, "we will designate their firm with Permanent Collaborator Status."
