Colorado Abortion Statistics

Colorado Abortion Statistics

The statistics below are the latest available from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The Department reports that "A study by the Health Statistics Section in 1985 revealed that a possible 30 percent of terminations in the state were not reported. Given the likelihood of under reporting...the ratio of terminations per 1,000 live births would probably be higher with more complete reporting."

In 1999, the following was said about under reporting:

Policy on Cloning

WHEREAS, society's acceptance of legalized abortion has caused deterioration of the respect for human life and the devaluing of human beings; and

WHEREAS, Colorado Right to Life is committed to promote, foster, encourage, uphold and support reverence and respect for human life without regard to condition, quality, age, race, religion, creed or color, whether born or unborn; and

Policy on Biological Technology

The Declaration of Independence sets forth the basic principle upon which this Nation and the Right to Life Movement were established, which is that "all men (human beings) are created equal" with regard to their natural and unalienable right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness", and therefore they are entitled to equal protection under the law. Colorado Right to Life opposes the use of any technology in ways that are not consistent with this principle of equal protection.

Some means of birth control are truly contraceptive in nature; that is, they prevent the union of the sperm from the male with the ovum from the female. After the sperm unites with the ovum, however, a new human being comes into existence. Some means of birth control are abortifacient; that is, they destroy the new human being thus conceived. Colorado Right to Life Committee opposes all abortifacient means of birth control.
